Who we are

Claimship makes software that helps startups document and claim the federal R&D tax credit. Questions about this policy go to legal@claimship.com.

Information we collect

We collect three kinds of information.

• Information you give us. When you fill out the get started form, we collect your company name, your name, your email, your team size, and anything you write in the message field.
• Data from connected tools. If you become a customer, you can connect tools like GitHub, Linear, Jira, Slack, and your payroll provider. Access is read-only and uses scopes you approve. We read this data for one purpose: to identify and document work that qualifies for the R&D tax credit.
• Technical data. Like most websites, our servers record basic request logs, such as IP address and browser type, to keep the site running and secure.

How we use information

We use your information to respond to your request, provide the service, prepare your R&D credit study and Form 6765 package, and improve the product. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to advertise to you or to anyone else.

How we share information

We share information only where needed to run the service.

• Service providers that host our site and store our data. Form submissions are stored with Google.
• Your CPA or tax preparer, at your direction, when we hand off your study and filing package.
• Authorities, if the law requires it and the request is valid.

Retention

We keep information for as long as we need it to provide the service and meet legal obligations. Credit documentation has a long useful life. The IRS can examine a return years after filing, so we keep study records through the applicable review periods unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

Security

Tool connections are read-only. Data moves over encrypted connections. Access inside Claimship is limited to people who need it to do their job. No system is perfectly secure, but we design for least access by default.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. You can disconnect any tool at any time, which stops future reads. Email legal@claimship.com and we will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, local law may give you additional rights.

Children

Claimship is a business product. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update it here and revise the date at the top of the page. Material changes to how we handle customer data get direct notice by email.
